My Mother Always said 'Charity Begins at Home'

What the World Needs Now is Love, Sweet Love

What are your wishes for the world? Do you wish more love, trust, integrity, joy, peace, charity, generosity and kindness in your community and the world? Then live it~Be the change you want to see in the world.
As my mother often said, 'Charity begins at home.'

Are You Willing to Give with a Generous Heart?

We all hope someone 'out there' will do something about the injustices we see. But if anything is to be done to care for our fellow humans and the world at large we must be willing to start the charitable drive to make the world a better place from our own home base. We must be willing to do something to change the course of events.

If we want a better world we must be willing to act in accordance with the change we want to see in the world.

Love Others AS YOU Love Yourself

'Charity begins at home' means first caring for yourself and those close to you so you have a strong base of love and support to share with the world, then reaching out to help others through acts of kindness and compassion. By first refreshing your own spirit you're better able to give to others.

The Paradox of Caring for Others as you Care for Yourself

But there is a paradox inherent in 'caring for others as you care for yourself'--you can't care for others without boosting your own spirits. Or as  the Dalai Lama said, 'If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.'

Consciously engaging in simple concrete acts of caring daily is where it begins.

A Fully Engaged Life Begins Today

💚Where are you willing to be the change you want to see?
💚What will your first concrete act of caring be today?
💚What is one action you'll take today to make the world a better place for one person?

Choose to live a fully engaged life in which you consciously care for and love others AS YOU care for and love yourself. It is the ultimate secret to a fulfilling and meaningful life.

'Most people spend their entire lives indefinitely preparing to live.'

Paul Tournier

'If you don't change your beliefs,
your life will be like this forever. Is that good news?'

W. Somerset Maugham

'The call to adventure is the point in a person's life
when they are first given notice that everything is going to change,
whether they know it or not.'

Joseph Campbell

'What you are is what you have been;
what you will be is what you do now.'

The Buddha

There are two good things in life--
freedom of thought and freedom of action.

W. Somerset Maugham
