My Mother Speaks to Me in the Morning

My Mother in the Morning

When my sister-in-law, Lee, sent me a series of rose photos I was intrigued by the name: "My Mother in the Morning". What was the origin of the name, I asked her.

"I call the roses Mommy", she said. "I planted them on top of her ashes. It IS her! All summer she offers her sublime scents and her beauty. I always compliment her--'Oh Mommy! You smell simply wonderful today or Oh, Mommy! You look fabulous today. The photos were taken in the morning when I talk with her."

I loved that! I want my children to plant flowers over my ashes so they can visit me and talk to me daily after I move on too. I have a Gardenia I planted in my backyard in honor of my mother. It was her favorite scent and it blooms in time for her birthday in July.

What a joyful experience it is to sit with a cup of coffee or tea beside our blooming mothers to talk and listen to them long after they've gone to the other side. So much wisdom and loving support is still to be gleaned if we just sit quietly and listen with an open heart to the messages from the other side. Just ask your Mommy a question, and listen for the answer.

When will my time come, Mommy?

My mother in the morning says,

"Your blessings have already arrived. You have opportunities before you right now.

Blessings are already being delivered to you daily. Make arrangements to receive them."

How do I best deal with the pain of life, Mommy?"

My mother in the morning says,

"Blessed are all my sons and daughters.

Where you imagine pain, imagine you're already at peace,

then clear a path to allow peace to stay."

How can I make a difference Mommy?

My mother in the morning speaks to me:

"I am only one, but still I am one.
I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.
I will not refuse to do the something I can do."

Helen Keller

Do something.

How can I get through the tough times, Mommy?

My mother in the morning speaks to me:

"There is in every true woman's heart a spark of heavenly fire which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hours of adversity."

Washington Irving

Trust your spark of heavenly fire to beam and blaze in the dark hours of adversity.

How shall I be, Mommy?

My mother in the morning speaks to me:

"The heart has its reasons that reason knows nothing of."

Pascal

Love whole-heartedly. Open your heart. Don't be reasonable. Be open-hearted.

How shall I create my life, Mommy?

My mother in the morning speaks to me:

"Paint with the brush of love."

"Dance exuberantly with the miracle of sparkling light that knows no limits."

Unknown

Live life to the fullest.

How shall I make my own way, Mommy?

My mother in the morning speaks to me:

"It is a grace and a strength to determine your own actions rather than allow them to be formed by the actions of others."

Unknown

Live your life with grace and strength.
