Have Patience with all Things; But First of all with Yourself: St Francis de Sales

"Have patience with all things; but first of all with yourself."

St Francis de Sales

·         What are you feeling anxious about?

·         What are you in a hurry to get past?

·         Why are you beating yourself up?

A Well-Ordered Mind—Able to Pause and Linger Within Itself

It was Seneca who said, "the first proof of a well-ordered mind is to be able to pause and linger within itself."

If you're feeling impatient with yourself, run a little experiment. Sit quiet for five minutes. Do nothing. Gently breathe in and out. Let your mind and body grow still. In the stillness of the moment, choose one positive action to take that will calm and strengthen you. Do it now.

Train Yourself to Use The Five Minute Anxiety Cure Daily

Commit to running this experiment daily.

Sit quiet for five minutes.

Do nothing.

Gently breathe in and out.

Let your mind and body grow still.

In the stillness of the moment,

choose one positive action to take

that will calm and strengthen you.

Calmly repeat daily.

Daily Moments of Mindfulness Create Consistent Positive Outcomes

Move yourself out of feeling overwhelmed by your situation into a calmer, more productive and peaceful state of mind

Don't be in a hurry to bypass the five minute cure. You have too much to give the world to stay anxious and distressed.

  • Within a week of practicing five minutes of calming mindfulness daily, you'll have taken seven steps;
  • Within a month of daily mindfulness you'll have calmly and deliberately accomplished 30 positive steps.
  • Within a year of daily 5 minute practice you'll have taken 365 positive steps.

Choose to gently untangle your mind, and with a clear mind and renewed spirit confidently step over your invisible barriers.

Learn to pause and linger within yourself.

"Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit.

Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever,

even if your whole world seems upset."

 St Francis de Sales

"While I am busy with little things,

I am not required to do greater things."

St Francis de Sales

To do greater things in your life,

learn to pause and linger within yourself.

I
love helping others tap into their more robust and resilient natures, particularly when working through self-doubt, life and career transitions, relationships, and self-confidence issues.

I take a nonjudgmental, growth-oriented perspective to helping you to become the person you’re meant to be—while helping you appreciate the richness of who you already are.

We're all in this awesome life together. Let's all do our part to lift each other up, and make it a better life for all.

Lightarted Living: Time to Rest when the Sun Goes Down

Lightarted Living: Time to Rest when the Sun Goes Down:

Time to Rest when the Sun Goes Down

Day is Done

At the end of day,
when the sun goes down,
I bring my tired dogs home to rest.

I sing to them a sweet lullabye
to gently rock them asleep;
Soon they're softly snoring tiny, tiny peeps.

Oh my poor sweet tired peeps.

Sweet dreams.

Lightarted Living: The Season of Love

Lightarted Living: The Season of Love:

The Season of Love

THE SEASON OF LOVE

In the season of love my bark is teeming with life.

Each of the tree spirits supports the others with great care
as we gather together in unity to prepare to winter over.

In nature it is the strong community
that is bestowed with a long and healthy life.

In a healthy community we look for the beauty
in our differences instead of searching for ugliness.

And we look for ways to create a unity of spirit
to maintain our high spirits
and a love of life.

We thrive because we care for one another.

Love Thy Neighbor

So in this season of love,
let yourselves teem with life.

Care for one another tenderly and deeply.

Put down strong roots.

Build a thriving and loving environment
where love and life flourishes.

In this season of love, why not go out of your way to
wish one another well and to lend a hand when needed?

BE OF GOOD CHEER!

Lightarted Living: Out of the Blue I think of You

Lightarted Living: Out of the Blue I think of You:

Out of the Blue I think of You

Out of the Blue

Out of the blue
fond memories of you
appear
and all the good times
come flooding back.

Remember the times
we laughed so hard
too early in the morning
the chef always came out to
see what was going on?

I still get tears in my eyes
thinking of that.

Remember trips
too numerous to count
to El Cholo
on Western Ave
where the wait was so long
and the margaritas so good
it didn't matter what we
ordered for dinner?

And what about that time
in Jackson Hole
we relentlessly listened to
'Sunshine on my Shoulders',
ate at the Mangy Moose,
and cross-country skied
in hip-deep snow?

Or the time you tried to
set me up with one of
Chris's graduate students
on a trip to Mammoth
when I made that 'salt' pie
that looked so good
but tasted so bad
and everyone
tried to pretend
it tasted good
until they all burst out
gagging and laughing?

Yes, out of the blue
I think of you
and what a wonderful time
we've had.

All my fondest memories
are bundled up
in feelings of joy
that have lasted me a lifetime.

So out of the blue
I send to you
my deepest love
and thanks
for a lifetime of
laughter and friendship.

Please accept
my deepest admiration
for the gift that you are
to me.
You've made my life
and memories
so much more fun
than I thought it ever could be.

Lightarted Living: To Everything there is a Season

Lightarted Living: To Everything there is a Season:

To Everything there is a Season

To Everything there is a Season

Behold Fall in all its finery;
Bold, bright and colorful;
Welcoming cool nights
and warm hearts.

Our minds slow;
Our hearts open
as we invite warm thoughts
of loved ones to linger.

The season lulls us
into a time of quiet reflection
in which past hurts and hardships
can be examined and released
to make room
for new seasons
of joy and cheer.

The Season of Forgiveness

Behold the glory of the season!

In the Fall parade
the wood fairies arrive
in their brightest outfits
to dazzle and cheer us on
as the crisp morning air
brings the chill of excitement.

Renew your heart,
Make peace with life and yourself,
and choose to start afresh.
